Solution for spam posters?

Sure there have always been spammers but its starting to seem like every other day there is a new one.

Is there nothing that be done other than cleaning up the pieces? perhaps a more vigorous registration process or something...

Actually unrelated to the spammers, but we are going to have closed registration soon which will in effect stop the spammers.

That should keep them out.

I do hope that its just a short term solution though. Becoming a permanent invite only forum keeps away more than just spammers.

Considering the type of forum that we are I think it'll actually promote growth if anything. Nothing's final... but thought I might as well mention it since it's related.
